Plagiocephaly , also known as flat head syndrome, is a deformity of the skull that occurs in young children. The head of babies is much softer than that of adults, and the cranial sutures are flexible. This is why little ones are more prone to various types of deformation. Many factors may contribute to the development of plagiocephaly, including incorrect positioning of the baby in the crib, but the deformations may occur much earlier, already during pregnancy, e.g. in the case of multiple pregnancies and lack of space in the uterus for free positioning of children.
